Adult Street Style/Freestyle/Flow

Our classically trained dance instructors developed this this upbeat class for adults in a street dance style that incorporates flow. Your body is an instrument through which art is created. The quality of this art depends on the physical qualities and skills you’ll gain in class! Flow is a term to describe a moving meditation of manipulating props such as your hands, hats, hoops, or even nunchuks and other items! Revel in creativity as you learn about and practice prop techniques that improve dexterity and proprioception. Share the joy of movement and self-expression, and tap into your unlimited potential. The state of flow creates new pathways in the brains, and offers an alternative perspective on movement, inside the body as well as outside the body as you move through space. It is also an exciting way to gain fitness by increasing heart rate, agility, and flexibility. Based on several dance style genres including contemporary, jazz, funk, modern, breakdance and hip hop.

Pole Fitness and Dance

At MASC we honor pole as an aerial apparatus. We prioritize its foundation of gymnastics, athleticism, and creative art.

Intro to Pole

This is the first step! Learn basic turns, spins and strengthening techniques to mount and climb the pole. This class is all about gaining confidence and knowledge of how your unique body interacts with the pole. Explore a new medium of strength and movement!

Level 1

Pole L1 builds off of the basic skills learned in Intro to Pole, creating dance combinations and new tricks and poses, each will be broken down into comprehensive step-by-step instructions. You will be amazed by what you are capable of! 

Level 2

Pole L2 is offered as pre-registered series. Students must feel confident in L1 skills and techniques. L2 delves deeper into inversions and aerial combinations, as well as expand on tricks learned in L1. 

Buti Yoga

Sweat with Intention. This calorie-scorching workout fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance + body sculpting primal movement. Created by Celebrity Trainer Bizzie Gold, Buti Yoga utilizes the Spiral Structure Technique to sculpt + tone the deep abdominal muscles that stabilize and strengthen the body. Instead of linear movements, Buti favors movements that challenge the body along all planes of motion with bursts of tribal dance, primal movement + conditioning woven into a dynamic yoga practice.

Capoeira Angola Style

Taught by Angolan born Bruno Augusto, this practice stems from the roots of Capoeira, which started as a game in a form of dance. After a rigorous warmup, elements of acrobatics and physical spectacle will be interwoven with traditional steps from Capoeira while building up the cardiovascular activity. This class is intended for the beginner enthusiast, as well as for the advanced practitioner wanting to work on specific details. Bruno will keep everyone connected regardless. *Ginga will keep everyone connected regardless.

Hoopy Hour

Level 1 & 2 

Revel in creativity as you share the joy of movement and self-expression with others. By using a hoop, we are able to open our bodies, and find flow; tap into your unlimited potential.

Flow is an exciting way to increase heart rate and flexibility, and lose weight. It creates new pathways in the brains, and offers an alternative perspective on movement, both inside our bodies and as our bodies move through space. Hooping is play, which is critical to good health in all stages of life.

Flow Arts is a term to describe a moving meditation of manipulating props such as staffs, hoops, poi, juggling, and other tools. Revel in creativity as you share the joy of movement and self-expression with others.
